Position Description

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in the Cardiac Surgery Professional Services. This is a full-time position that promotes a work/life balance.   Position consists of  4 10hr shifts per week and every 3rd weekend. Responsibilities and duties for the cardiac surgery patient include: consultations, pre-operative assessments, post-op critical care, post-op step down care, daily progress notes, discharges, occasional admissions, removal of chest tubes/pacing wires/IABPs, and placement of central lines and arterial lines. Our ChristianaCare Cardiac Surgery program performs multiple procedures including CABG, Valve, Complex Aortic Surgeries, TAVR, Endografts, LVAD, and ECMOs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s degree as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant
  • One year of cardiac surgery experience preferred
  • Licensure or license eligible in the state of Delaware
  • Prescriptive authority required
  • Apply for and receive DEA number to prescribe controlled substances
  • ACLS required
