Please join me in congratulation Kathleen Stilling Burkhart, MSN, APN-C, Capt. USNR-R certified Health and Wellness Coach for her selection as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) for 2018.

Ms. Burkhart served in the US Navy Nurse Corps for 25 years and retired with the rank of Captain. She has been involved in the nurse practitioner movement for over 30 years, holding numerous leadership positions that have resulted in the advancement of the nurse practitioner role both locally and nationally.  She has been an active member of the Forum for APN (FANP) in New Jersey since 2003 when she relocated to NJ with her family after retiring from military service. She was elected New Jersey State Representative for AANP 2007-2013 and assisted for an interim post from 2016-2017, as well as held a Board of Director position for the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA). She serves on the NJSNA Task Force working on removing barriers to nurse practitioners practice, as well as on the Congress for Policy and Practice.

Kathleen has been a Nurse Practitioner in the VA for over 25 years and is currently working as a Whole Health Education Champion. She was instrumental in the implementation of the VA medical home model, and currently, the national and local VA Full Practice Authority roll out. She is the recipient of numerous clinical awards, as well as 4 individual military service medals.
