CALL TO ACTION!! Please review the important message from AANP below

Posted about 7 hours ago by Victoria Eftychiou in Legislative

Dear New Jersey AANP member,

While it’s great to gain the extra 45 days under the new executive order wind down, we need to make the most of it and keep the drumbeat going to make this change permanent!

We are hearing that the governor’s office and legislators are hearing from a large number of physicians who don’t support nurse practitioner (NP) licensure modernization. We need to make sure that policymakers are hearing the voices of NPs and our communities loud and clear!

Senate Bill 2996 as introduced is the solution that New Jersey needs to help provide timely access to care across the state. Even if you reached out to your legislator last time, please do so again as policymakers need to hear from NPs at every stage. Be sure to add in a personal story about how this will impact your practice and your patients, stories matter!
Act Now
As a reminder, S2996 as introduced would:
  • Eliminating the requirement that an advanced practice nurse (APN) maintain a joint protocol with a collaborating physician after 24 months or 2,400 hours of licensed, active, advanced nursing practice.
  • Authorizing APNs to sign, stamp, verify, or endorse a document which requires the signature, stamp, or verification, or endorsement of a physician.
  • Meets New Jersey’s Rural Health Transformation Program commitment to adopt Full Practice Authority (FPA) and maintain that portion of the federal funding.
Sincerely,

AANP Board of Directors
