New Jersey Prescription Blanks (NJPBs) Information:

The Division of Consumer Affairs has adopted new regulations which will incorporate print-based security features into all New Jersey Prescription Blanks (NJPBs). There are a few key dates that you should be aware of:

As of May 18th, 2014, approved New Jersey Prescription Blank Printer Vendors no longer sell the "old" NJPB (blue front, green back); only the new design is permitted to be offered for sale.

August 18, 2014

The "old" NJPBs may be used by practitioners for validly written prescriptions dated on or before August 18, 2014.

After this date, practitioners must use the new NJPBs to issue prescriptions written for their patients.

Note: Patient prescriptions originally written on or before August 18, 2014 will be filled at a New Jersey pharmacy pursuant to the guidelines set forth in N.J.A.C. 13:39-7.3 for non-Controlled Dangerous Substances (non-CDS) and N.J.A.C. 13:45H-7.5 for Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS).

NJPB Regulations
Prescribers may place an order for New Jersey Prescription Blanks either with an approved Printer Vendor or an approved Sales Representative who works with an Approved Printer Vendor.

While we are on the subject and you are ordering the new blanks, this would be a great time to sign up for the NJPMP if you have not already done so. For much more information on the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs' initiative to halt the diversion and abuse of prescription drugs, view the Division's NJPMP website, and the Division's Project Medicine Drop website.
